Our Journey | 2nd Trimester
I can't believe I am sitting here writing about the 2nd trimester as I sit on the first day of my 3rd. This pregnancy has been so smooth so far and it's flying by this fall season. I've been blown away by the responses to my personal posts and always get excited to share with you about our growing family and adventures!
These first weeks in the 2nd trimester were so refreshing, my nauseousness ( the little I had ) had finally subsided and my bump was beginning to show. Everything becoming more real and setting in. Week 15 was extra exciting because that was the week I felt my first bit of flutters and movement. Knowing now I believe I felt it earlier but that was the week I was SURE I knew what was happening!
Anatomy scan time! So I knew from the beginning I only wanted to do 1-2 ultrasounds and the anatomy scan being one of them. We got one at 8 weeks as well to confirm everything which was BEYOND worth it!
We got to watch along while they got all the measurements and see all the fun movement and how big this baby was getting. We did it all with out finding out the gender which was my biggest concern. I've heard to many stories of it being given away and I didn't want this to happen.
Kicks & Wiggles were becoming pretty strong and constituent at this point. Those previous weeks I would go through a few days here and there that I wouldn't feel anything which is very common but still causes some worry.
I think one of my favorite moments this pregnancy so far was when Evan got to feel the baby. I had tried for weeks and was beginning to wonder if he actually had feeling in his hands! I believe it was around week 22-23 that he got to feel some kicks and now he can every night!
These weeks consisted of a not sleeping quite as easy, more frequent trips to the bathroom and my least favorite is the stiffness in my hands after sleeping. I don't think being a photographer helps that at all.
Evan comments more and more about my growing belly. It took quite a bit of time for all of this to set in for him. He doesn't get to feel all the things I go through in this pregnancy but feeling the baby, watching my belly move and watching it grow has really set it in for him. We are both beyond excited. The amount of Liverpool FC ( His favorite soccer team ) gear that this child already has is hilarious. I have surprise amazon orders come to the door and I wonder what he got for the baby now. I love every second of it though!
This 2nd trimester has also finally brought us around to a girl name we both LOVE! We've had a boy name picked out since before I was pregnant. We also have a few back ups for each but not many. Picking a name has not been easy for us. I don't like super common names and he doesn't like many names in general but as I'm sure you have guessed we are definitely not sharing any of our ideas until this little one gets here!
This week I have completed my glucose test and I haven't been called by and it's been more than 24 hours so I've got my fingers crossed that it means I passed. It wasn't as bad as some make it out to be. Not my favorite but doable!
THE LOWS |
I don't have many lows this trimester. A few little aches and pains that are becoming more common.
I think the biggest low was this month being October. It's officially been a year since my first miscarriage that I went through on our trip in England which still breaks my heart and my 2nd miscarriage my due date was this October. This also being pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. I am so thankful for the amazing God we serve who has gotten us through this and brought us to amazing place we are today!
THE HIGHS |
ALL THE HIGHS. Watching baby move, my belly growing, we are getting settled in to my parents basement for the winter. So setting up all the baby things has been so so fun. Adding to the baby registry and getting ready for the shower. It's getting closer and closer and I am so so excited!!
3 of my cousins have welcomed their babies in to the world, I also know of at least 5 other littles who have joined this world! It's got my baby fever going STRONG!! To all you new mommas please please keep over sharing those babies! I am loving every second of those cute faces and words of advice!!
I've got to share with the world that my bestfriend Jenn (who's husband is also a travel nurse) is expecting in March! This has been a huge prayer answered for us. We always knew we would have loved to have babies close together and neither of our journeys were easy getting here! Here we are carrying these babies strong and sharing all the advice to each other that we can. It's been so fun being a little ahead and giving her a heads on things and getting the call weeks later saying shes experiencing what we talked about! Our pregnancies have been super similar and we are very curious if we will end up having the same gender. They aren't finding out either so we have had fun guessing and sharing old wives tale predictions!
WHAT IS AHEAD?
Holidays! I have a feeling these next months will fly by. I have 1 wedding left on the books as well as quite a few shoots. I'm staying busy and getting quite excited for my shower in a few weeks! I love any chance to spend with family and friends! My Dr appointments are now every 2 weeks and we are officially moving in to the basement this weekend! We have made our own little studio apartment down there and we are beyond thankful to have our own space but be close to family which I know will be so helpful when Evan goes back to work!
I AM IN MY FINAL TRIMESTER. HOW IS THIS REAL?
God is good!
My prayers go out to all those mommas who are struggling and I want you to know you are NOT alone! Any advice, questions or listening ears you need know I am here!!
There it is! A "little" update about our journey!
